On 6/7/2024 at about 4:20 PM State Troopers were dispatched to a serious crash on I-215 W Southbound at 3100 South. A Chevy Tahoe had been parked on the left shoulder and the sole male occupant (identified as 48 year old Leonardo Abraham Angel Mejia) of that vehicle was outside between the barrier and his vehicle. A Nissan NV200 van left its lane to the left and struck the back passenger corner of the Tahoe, pushing it into Mr. Angel Mejia. Mr. Angel Mejia suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The circumstances surrounding the other vehicle leaving its lane are still under investigation.
