On 6/8/2024 at about 03:18 AM, State Troopers were dispatched to a serious crash involving a single passenger vehicle on I-80 near the Bangerter Highway interchange to the Salt Lake International Airport. When troopers and fire personnel arrived they found the single vehicle involved had left the roadway to the right and struck a bridge support column head on. The vehicle was fully engulfed and was actively burning. Fire personnel worked to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, the male driver, who was the sole occupant, was found inside the vehicle having suffered fatal injuries.
