
On December 28, at 8:06 PM, a Hyundai Tucson was reported driving recklessly, swerving between lanes at a high rate of speed. For an unknown reason, the Hyundai collided with six other vehicles that were stopped at a traffic light at 4100 South and Bangerter Highway. Following the impact, the Hyundai caught fire. A driver from one of the other vehicles managed to pull the driver and sole occupant out of the Hyundai. The driver of the Hyundai was transported by ambulance in critical condition. The driver of a Toyota Highlander needed to be extricated from their vehicle and was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. All other drivers and passengers involved were evaluated and released from medical care at the scene. Unfortunately, the driver of the Hyundai succumbed to their injuries after arriving at the hospital.
The driver of the Hyundai who suffered fatal injuries in this crash has been identified as 63 year old Abbie Louise Roderick of Enoch, Utah.
