Fatal Crash on US-89 MM 268 (Ephraim, Utah)

On Friday, December 12, 2025, at 2030 hours Troopers responded to US-89 near milepost 268 for a crash involving two school buses and a pickup truck. The pickup truck was traveling southbound when it went left of center. Both buses were traveling northbound at that same location. The pickup truck grazed the first bus and then struck the second bus head on. The first bus had approximately 19 students and there were no reported injuries. The second bus, that was struck head-on, contained 17 students plus the driver. All 18 individuals were transported to a nearby hospital with varying injuries, with two occupants in critical condition being flown by air ambulance for medical treatment. The driver of the pickup truck a 43-year-old male succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Fatigued driving is being suspected as the cause of the crash.
