On December 15, 2024, at 1:41 PM, Troopers responded to a crash southbound on US-91 at milepost 44 involving two vehicles. A GMC Terrain was traveling southbound when the vehicle hydroplaned on the wet roads. The Terrain traveled into the northbound lanes striking a Mazda 3. The only occupant of the Mazda died on the scene. The three occupants in the Terrain all received significant injuries, the driver and front passenger were transported by ambulance, and the rear passenger was transported by helicopter.
