On Friday, January 9, 2026, at approximately 9:45 am, a red 2004 Acura MDX was traveling westbound on I-70 near milepost 46. A witness reports that the vehicle slowed in the #1 lane and its hazard lamps were activated. The witness stated they moved to the #2 lane and overtook the Acura MDX. A white 2022 Chevrolet 3500 pulling a flatbed trailer was also traveling westbound on I-70 near milepost 46. The Chevrolet failed to avoid the Acura MDX, which struck it from behind. Both vehicles left the roadway into the median. The driver of the Acura was ejected, and the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Life-saving measures were used, but the 32-year-old female driver of the Acura was pronounced deceased at the crash scene. The driver of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries and was not transported.
