Salt Lake County Road Rage Fatal Shooting (Updated 10/9/24)

On Monday, October 7, 2024, at approximately 5:20 am, Troopers responded to a report of a road rage incident on eastbound SR-201. Initial reports indicated that a black truck and a gray SUV were involved in a road rage altercation between I-215 West and the 900 West off-ramp, resulting in both vehicles colliding. The two vehicles crashed into the right concrete barrier near 1000 West and SR 201, heading eastbound. After the crash, UHP found that one of the parties, a 44-year-old male, fired multiple shots. A 50-year-old male driver was found deceased in the pickup after they arrived at the scene.

At this point in the investigation, the driver was believed to be the only occupant in each vehicle. Eastbound SR-201 was closed from when the Trooper arrived until approximately 1:26 pm.

This incident is still under investigation; this information is preliminary and subject to change.
