On June 27, 2025, a Chevrolet Pacifica was traveling eastbound on I-80 near milepost 191 in lane one. A Peterbilt semi-truck, pulling a trailer, was slightly ahead of the Pacifica in lane two. The Pacifica drifted from lane one into lane two and collided with the rear of the Peterbilt. After the collision, the driver of the Pacifica lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway to the right. It impacted an embankment and subsequently overturned.
At the time of the crash, the passenger in the Pacifica was not wearing a seatbelt. Both occupants of the Pacifica sustained serious injuries. They were both extricated from the vehicle and transported to the hospital, one by helicopter and the other by ambulance. The driver of the semi received no injuries.
