On Monday, February 9, 2026, at approximately 05:50 am, a black 2014 KIA Soul was traveling eastbound on US-40 mile marker 108. A gray 2024 Ford F-150 was traveling westbound and drifted left across the center turn lane and into the left eastbound lane. The Ford pickup struck the KIA head-on at the Cobble Hollow Dr. intersection at Hwy 40. Each vehicle had a single occupant. Both drivers (Ford, a 67-year-old male, and Kia, a 25-year-old male) were killed on impact. The roadway was closed at the time of the incident and is estimated to reopen shortly after noon.
